Aanischaaukamikw Cree Cultural Institute wins an award at the Grand Prix du Design Québécois in Montreal

December 17, 2012, Ouje-Bougoumou, Quebec

Santa has come a little early this year for Aanischaaukamikw Cree Cultural Institute (ACCI).

Aanischaaukamikw Cree Cultural Institute is pleased to announce that ACCI has received an award from the Grand Prix du Design Québécois, the best of Quebec design, for the use of wood in an institutional interior!

This year, the Grand Prix du Design Québécois announced that it has received record entries in various categories. The ceremony was held in Montreal on December 13, 2012.

Our architects, Rubin & Rotman Associates and in collaboration with Douglas Cardinal Architect, the Aanischaaukamikw Cree Cultural Institute design and use of wood on two floors is functional and attractive, it draws a clear and welcoming space that meets the constraints of a museum setting. Traditional and symbolic, it echoes the mission of the Institute: a tribute to the Cree Nation.

Diane Ried echoes that tribute to the ACCI team, “My sincerest congratulations! Like I said to you, you and your whole team deserve it! It is news that I will be so honored to tell the Elders of the Cree Nation. And for all the years of patience by everyone, we want to say, Mista-meegwetch!

We, at Aanischaaukamikw Cree Cultural Institute are very proud of the dedication and accomplishments of the teams of architects, builders and everyone who was involved in the realization of the dream of Aanischaaukamikw. Congratulations! Keep up the good work.
