Aanischaaukamikw Cree Cultural Institute is pleased to announce that after more than six (6) months of hard work on this file and many years before that of preparation and planning, Aanischaaukamikw has been granted museum Category "A" status by the Federal Department of Canadian Heritage.
This puts Aanischaaukamikw on a professional level with other important museums in Canada, enables us to apply to have collections designated as important to Canada, allows us to issue full tax receipts to donors, makes us eligible for Federal acquisition grants and demonstrates that a regional museum in a remote part of the country can perform at a high level.
“The ongoing success of recognition for Aanischaaukamikw since its inception is a collective effort on the part of all who were part of this project. The incredible staff of ACCI ensured and secured this latest status that will be a major step for future acquisitions of Cree objects.’’ President / CEO Dianne Ottereyes-Reid
The staff at Aanischaaukamikw played a vital role in achieving this status. Hard work and dedication are the bedrock of every great achievement. It is this type of teamwork that allows us to reach such heights of excellence and perform the extraordinary.
We are also indebted to the leadership of Eeyou Istchee for the wise decisions that supported us throughout the design and building process that made it possible.
Congratulations to all!
