Recent Archaeological Projects

Wemindji

The community asked for archaeological expertise prior to the construction of a projected road which would go through the Kakbat family land. This project has permitted us to discover, with the help of elders and Cree collaborators, 5 new archaeological sites.

Oujé-Bougoumou

A significant intervention has been carried out in the Assinika area on Bosum family land, and in the area of Uupimskaau Paaushtikuu. We have discovered nine archaeological sites, and they are now “active:.

Waskaganish

We have worked in two different sections of the Smokey Hill site, Sanders pond, Charlton Island, Charles Fort, and other sites.

The Oujé-Bougoumou Archaeology Project (OuAP)

The vision of the archaeology of Aanischaaukamikw Cree Cultural Institute (ACCI) focuses on collaborative projects with the Cree communities and supports them in a range of projects that relate to Cree cultural heritage and places on the land. This project is taking place in Oujé-Bougoumou.
